I already knew about spirulina. I'd eaten it in tablet form, like you find in the shops, but fresh spirulina was a total discovery. Curious but cautious, I wanted to find out more before adding it to my diet. After all, I didn't want to jeopardize all the purification work I'd undertaken.

As fate would have it, I discovered that Gilles Planchon, one of the pioneers of spirulina, lived just a few kilometers from me. Better still, he was organizing a workshop the following weekend to teach me how to grow it at home. I signed up, with no intention of becoming a grower - it wasn't my field at all.

And then, love at first sight...

I had discovered the perfect food, a vitality bomb that nourishes and regenerates cells. It was obvious: I had to have it in Brazil! When I got home from the course, I was obsessed with one thought: how could I take fresh spirulina with me to Brazil?
The only solution? Grow it myself! After months of planning, and thanks to Thomas from @spiruline_croqlavie, who supplied me with the stem cells I had flown across the Atlantic, I succeeded.
